i spent the day perusing Half Price Books and Barnes and Noble, and came out with these finds. i have so many books in my queue right now, i can't decide where to start! i attempted audio books on my Kindle, but failed. i can't really pay attention to someone reading me a story.

i've decided to go back and re-read some books i had to study in high school. i liked them back then, but am pretty sure i'll love them now that someone isn't forcing me to read them. i can't wait for Animal Farm, Fahrenheit 451, A Separate Peace, and The Great Gatsby

Stephen King's most recent novel, 11/22/63 has really pushed me back into the swing of reading. it was easily the best story i've ever read and would recommend it to anyone. it's a doozy at 850 pages, but you'll get sucked in so easily it won't take long to read. i'm open to any and all book suggestions!

feliz cinco de mayo! we celebrated by partying in the morning with the L Style G Style gang at the May/June release party. Uncle Billy's on the lake was an awesome location and the lake made a lovely backdrop to the event!

we also went to a fajita/margarita/pool party at Jerrett's neighbor's house, which included toasting marshmallows over a fire pit. YUM. i'll take mallows over booze anyday, so this was super excited to me.

we ended the night by going downtown and getting caught in the rain on the way back to the car. enough rain that the lakes should be closer to full than they've been in a while. Austin is such a beautiful city and i love being able to spend so much time outdoors here!

i've decided that sometimes photo a day blogs will be posted a day late. sometimes (often times) exciting things don't happen until later in the evening, and by that point i'm too tired to blog. here's yesterday's photos!

Jerrett and i had a movie tonight with Iron Man and pizza (yum!). Since the Avengers was so awesome, i now want to watch each of the character's previous movies. we began with Tony Stark. while we waited on the pizza to cook, Jerrett and puppy had a lovely moment in the kitchen dancing. Fender always loves a good dance!

kitty and puppy aren't the best of friends, but they've learned to be civil around each other. here they are acting like they don't realize they're in the same room together. yay for movie nights with my 3 favorite boys!

pandora was very good to me at work today. i was pretty worn out on the stations i usually listen to, so i created a new station based on the song "Brick House," which was the best decision ever! plenty of disco and funk and soul, oh my! good tunes always make the work day go smoothly.

after work i started construction on the rehearsal bouquet for Heather's wedding next month. i love being crafty and i love my best friend, so this is a really fun project for me! as tradition goes, we collected all of her ribbons and bows from the bridal shower to make the bouquet she will carry during the rehearsal.

my main squeeze is taking me to see The Avengers tonight at midnight (thanks love!), so i'm off to take a hefty nap. i'm notorious for falling asleep during movies (sadly, even in theaters) so a midnight screening is even harder for me to keep my eyes open. hopefully i can make it!

i had a lovely walk and dinner with an awesome lady, Jillian. she's currently doing some great work with KUT and livin' the life. we met in college as photojournalism students and have always kept in touch. (you might recognize her as the genius that taught me the rubik's cube!)

after exploring a new-ish boutique and devouring some tacos y guacamole at Torchy's, we walked back to my place, enjoying the true Texan scenery along the way. these yellow flowers cacti bloom are my favorite!

i've come to realize that i've lived in austin for a long time now (almost 6 years!) and there are still plenty of things i haven't experienced and plenty of tacos i haven't eaten. maybe i should go on a taco tour? a tourist attraction-filled weekend? what are your favorite things about this lovely city?
